Spark plugs Peugeot 208 I (A9) (2012–2019)

About this model

The Peugeot 208 I (A9) was built from 2012 to 2019.

The main engines of this generation are 1.2 PureTech, 1.6 BlueHDi, 1.4 HDi.

About this part

The spark plug makes the spark that ignites the air and petrol mixture in the cylinder. A worn plug sparks poorly: the engine misfires, uses more fuel and is hard to start.

From 30,000 to 60,000 kilometres for nickel plugs, up to 90,000 and beyond for platinum or iridium. The signs are a rough idle, jerking under acceleration and the engine warning light. On turbocharged petrol engines the plug runs hotter: the right heat range matters more than on a naturally aspirated engine.

Thread, length, heat range and electrode gap matter. They are all replaced together, and the electrode type - nickel, platinum, iridium - is specified by the manufacturer. On a high-mileage engine it is worth checking the coils and leads at the same time: a new plug will not fix a coil that sparks weakly.
