Glow plugs Citroën Jumper III (since 2006)

About this model

The Citroën Jumper III has been built since 2006.

The main engines of this generation are 2.2 HDi, 2.0 BlueHDi.

About this part

The glow plug heats the combustion chamber of diesel engines before starting and in the first minutes. Diesel ignites by compression, and with a cold engine that extra heat is needed.

They last a long time, often over 100,000 kilometres, but they fail one at a time. The signs are a slow cold start, white smoke in the first minutes and a flashing glow plug light. On modern diesels the glow plugs stay on after starting to reduce emissions and noise: a faulty one can be felt even with the engine already running. On a van that sets off early on winter mornings, a faulty glow plug is the first reason it will not start.

Thread, length and voltage matter: modern glow plugs run at low voltage, controlled by a module. When one fails it is worth replacing them all, because the others are the same age.
